Helping Authentic Voices Stand Out

The most compelling application essays do more than showcase accomplishments. They reveal the person behind them: their curiosity, values, experiences, perspectives, and capacity for growth.

I work with students applying to secondary schools, colleges, and competitive scholarship opportunities to develop thoughtful, memorable essays that remain unmistakably their own. Grounded in the principles of the writer's workshop, my approach prioritizes brainstorming, authentic storytelling, constructive feedback, and purposeful revision.

We begin with curiosity: What experiences have shaped you? What matters to you, and why? What might a reader understand about you that cannot be captured by grades, activities, or a résumé? From there, I guide students through developing a compelling narrative, organizing their ideas, refining their language, and ensuring their writing responds meaningfully to the application prompt.

My role is not to write a student's story for them, but to help them discover how best to tell it. The result is an essay that is polished and purposeful without sacrificing individuality, authenticity, or ownership.
